Hidden or Obscure Site Content

Several hidden items and obscure pieces of data have been discovered on summakor.com, apart from the obvious content:

"Pig": http://www.summakor.com/pig.html

This page displays the image below. The page is entitled "Pig". The 'Five Segment Circle' symbol appears in the lower corner of the image.

"Pig" image from summakor.com

"Map": http://www.summakor.com/37927mp.html

This page displays an ENTER KEY WORD (Alternate description: PLEASE LOGIN) prompt when accessed. Entering the word VILLAGE at the prompt and clicking on the ENTER key will open the map displayed below. This appears to be a map of The Village itself. The page is entitled "Map"

The barcode at the bottom of the map reads "@THE PRISONER@" in Code 39. (The @ symbols are to identify the start and finish of the barcode.)

"Error 6" : http://www.summakor.com/error6.html

"Found this on Father Two's computer screen when I logged in. It came from the Summakor website, but I don't know what it is or how to get to it...Maybe you can figure it out? ♥Number Thirteen" --- Message posted by anonymous wiki user

To get to this page: from Summakor.com home page, search for Michael. The search engine returns the link to this page.

This page runs a Flash "movie" that has the following text: "restricted page/evaluation inclusion code six". The word six here appears in red. The alternate description of the text image is PLEASE LOGIN, but there is no clear way to do so. At the top of the page, the text "michael" appears for unclear reasons. The name "Michael" is in a Meta tag of the HTML, apparently for a search of that word to produce this page. The page is entitled "error6.html." Yet, the Flash "movie" is labeled "error2.swf" (seen in the page source; "swf" refers to the "movie" format).

"Error 313" : http://www.summakor.com/error313.html

This page displays a Flash file (error.swf) that displays the following text: "restricted page/313 evaluation inclusion initiated". The words page/313 here appears in red. The alternate description of the text image is PLEASE LOGIN, but there is no clear way to do so.

At the top of the page, the text "313" appears. The text "Page 313" is listed in the meta tag of the HTML, making it likely that searches on this term will produce this page as a result. The HTML page itself is named "error313.html" while the Flash file is simply named "error.swf"

Karl Lindemann

A number of Adobe PDF files appear on Summakor's web site. Although the site is extremely reticent to reveal any information about Summakor's personnel, location, or client list, the PDF files on the site reveal the author as one "karl lindemann". While investigation is ongoing, it is unclear at this point what Mr. Lindemann's role at Summakor is, or indeed whether this name represents a real employee at all.

Specific results

Single character searches are allowed, which means that a search for 'a' such as http://www.summakor.com/search.php?srch=a will generate a list of most of the pages on the site, including the various hidden ones listed above.

Searching on the word "summakor" with http://www.summakor.com/search.php?srch=summakor will generate a list including all 13 known pages, including the hidden ones already listed here.

Searching on the phrase "number 6" in the search box returns four hits, including the "Map" page at http://www.summakor.com/37927mp.html, the TOC page, the "New Directions" page at http://www.summakor.com/directions.html, and the "Error 6" page at http://www.summakor.com/error6.html.

Analysis

Based on the worm cams and the hidden images above, Summakor is a key supplier of technology in The Village and has considerable knowledge of the location and its capabilities. They also apparently employed Six who ended up in The Village.

The "Pig" image above is reminiscent of a propaganda poster, although the precise intent is obscure. Is it pro-animal ownership? To what end? The typeface used in the poster is Optima, designed by Hermann Zapf, released in the later 1950's and was popular in the 1960's. The bus design has also been identified as similar to those of the mid-60's (see The Bus Analysis). Could this be significant? The lettering and numbers seen in photos from The Village also seem to use the same typeface, but in differing weights. Is there a reason the same typeface is used? Is this an exercise in consistent corporate branding?

The "Map" image includes the text "Scan of Map" and "Access Code 37927" along the bottom. The 'scan' terminology seems to match that of previous images in this investigation, and the access code is also the number of the man who runs The Village Shop. The map seems to have been originally printed in color with variations in the dot matrix, so that when it is copied or scanned, various lines appear (seen in the black and white scan). This may be to dissuade copying and redistribution, or it could be to obscure details found in the original.

Speculation

[Speculation] Summakor must conduct research studies in order to develop its technologies dealing with large numbers of people, such as crowdsourced observation, persuasive community management, etc. One would think such research would require a large facility within which to create a controlled environment and/or several smaller environments. This facility might need to include many different places where numbers of people would be together at once such as parks, shops, restaurants, movie houses, etc. Naturally, such research would require a good number of patients for the experiments. From the "Map," it looks like The Village is large enough to facilitate these kinds of experiments, as well as house a large number of patients. The Village could be a place where Summakor conducts research; perhaps even the whole place is for research.
